About the Crosstown Helpout
Bearcat and Musketeer fans alike share one unique similarity: a deep commitment to the City of Cincinnati. In that spirit, the University of Cincinnati and Xavier University have united their passions for the Cincinnati community through this important cause.
The Crosstown Helpout is an annual volunteer event that provides cleanup and basic repairs for local area schools and agencies. As the name implies, the event is a take-off on the Crosstown Shootout basketball game between the University of Cincinnati and Xavier University. Alumni, staff and volunteers from both the University of Cincinnati and Xavier University communities jointly plan the event.
In the last decade, countless volunteers and community organizations have been impacted by the kindness of Musketeer and Bearcat fans across the region.
And after ten great years, the Helpout is only getting better!
While leading this enhancement, UC and Xavier will once again proudly work alongside the Home Depot this year. Together, we will build a community playground in one day for the universal cause of children's well being.
The playground will provide not only a tangible benefit to this valuable Cincinnati neighborhood, but will be a lasting testament to the passion and dedication of our two great institutions.
The goal of this cooperative effort is ultimately to build up our community and add long-lasting value. The Crosstown Helpout will not only build a playground, it will build hopes and dreams in the youth of our great city.
The Helpout will always be a true community event as fans, alumni, and staff put aside their rivalry and work together to build a better community.
Thank you for your past involvement in the Crosstown Helpout and we certainly hope to work with you again this year!
Mark your calendars now! Saturday, July 26, 2008!

In 2006, the Crosstown Helpout won a Building CommUnity Award. The event was recognized by Home Depot for its tremendous impact on volunteerism and the many schools and agencies which it serves. Furthermore, the leadership, energy and enthusiasm of the event were honored.
In a ceremony held at Home Depot headquarters in Atlanta, Ron Henlein, district manager for the Cincinnati Home Depot stores, said “the Crosstown Helpout exemplifies the community spirit that can be found on both campuses as well as the commitment that lives in the hearts of our Home Depot associates.”
